How we look after Mondi Lodge · Sint Michiel, Curaçao
Mondi Lodge is owned by a Curaçao family and looked after day to day by Danita. Six colourful wooden palapas, including a treehouse, stand on poles in a quiet tropical garden in Sint Michiel. Four beaches are within 2 km, and the airport and Willemstad are about ten minutes away by car.
We run the lodge on a few simple values: integrity, respect for the land around us, honesty with our guests and hospitality with a personal touch. Sustainability sits at the centre of how we manage everything, from the energy we use to the people we work with.
The lodge runs largely on solar energy. Solar panels heat your shower water, and most lights use energy-saving LED bulbs.
Two trees were moved to construct the pool. The garden is mostly local plants, watered with groundwater and re-used pool water. We use permaculture practices.
Our Magnapool cleans without chlorine, needs less water for backwashing and is gentle on your skin.
Furniture and decor are made from palletwood, driftwood and other recyclables. Bottles, cans, glass, paper and batteries are recycled.
Eco-labelled cleaning products, organic toiletries bought from local shops, and organic, fair-trade coffee.
No printed flyers. Everything about the lodge and the island is in our digital guest directory.
Tax, cleaning, wifi, electricity and water are all included, along with housekeeping. The only extra is anything you take from the minibar.
Yes. Our Magnapool cleans the water without chlorine, uses less water and is kind to your skin. The pool is shared and unheated.
Kunuku, one of our two-bedroom palapas, is wheelchair accessible, with an adapted toilet and sink and a roll-in outdoor shower.
Use the recycling at the lodge, and ask us for a clean-up kit when you head to the beach. You will find more tips in our digital guest directory.

Children are very welcome. Pets are not allowed at the lodge.
