Aquafari Underwater Scooter

If you have never tried an underwater scooter, Aquafari at Boka Sami is the place to do it. You ride along the seabed on a specially designed scooter while breathing normally through a full-face mask. No dive certificate is needed and no experience is required.

It sounds a little wild, but it is great fun. You’ll glide past coral gardens and shoals of colourful fish, and if you’re lucky, a ray or a turtle will join you along the way. The guides are fantastic and make the whole thing feel relaxed, even if you’re a little nervous at first.

Tours leave from the beach at Boka Sami, just down the road from the lodge, and there is parking on site. The underwater part lasts around 45 minutes, and trips run several times a day. Book ahead, especially in busy periods, and check the latest times and prices on the Aquafari website.

Go in the morning, when the sea is usually at its calmest and the light underwater is at its clearest. Afterwards, stay on for a swim in the bay or lunch in the village. It is a wonderful way to see the reef if snorkelling feels too limited and diving feels like too much.
