Ask Danita for her favourite place on the island and she will point you down the road to Boka Sami. This small fishing village sits on Sint Michiel Bay, within easy reach of the lodge, and it still feels genuinely local.
There are no rows of sun loungers here. Instead you’ll find colourful fishing boats bobbing in the bay, nets drying on the pier and people going about their day. The beach is small and natural, with calm, clear water in that blue-green shade Curaçao does so well. Bring your own snacks, lay down a towel and just breathe.
Pack your snorkel. Hawksbill and green sea turtles graze on the sea grass in the bay, and if you drift slowly and quietly, there’s a good chance one will glide right past you. Please never touch them, as it can harm them.
Take time to chat with the fishermen and admire the boats, and treat the village with the respect it deserves. Take your rubbish home and leave it exactly as you found it.
Mornings are calm and quiet for snorkelling. Come back in the evening for sunset, when the whole bay turns gold.
