Getting to Mondi Lodge: Flights, Car Hire and Driving in Curaçao

The terminal building at Curaçao International Airport

One of the nicest things about Mondi Lodge is how quickly the holiday starts. We’re in Sint Michiel on the south-west coast of Curaçao, around ten minutes’ drive from the airport. Here’s how to get to us.

Flying to Curaçao

All international flights land at Curaçao International Airport, on the north side of the island near Hato. There are direct flights from the Netherlands, several cities in the Americas and nearby Caribbean islands, depending on the season. Once you’re through arrivals, you’re only a short drive from the lodge.

Hiring a car

We recommend hiring a car. Curaçao’s best beaches, national parks and villages are spread around the island, and public transport is limited. We work with the local company Prins rather than the big international chains at the airport; it keeps money on the island and the service is personal. Let us know your arrival details and we’ll help you arrange it.

Driving in Curaçao

  • Traffic drives on the right.
  • Roads between the main areas are good, but side roads can be narrow and uneven, so take it slowly.
  • Watch out for goats, iguanas and the occasional donkey on country roads.
  • Leave nothing valuable on show in a parked car, especially at beaches.

Finding the lodge

Our address is Klein Sint Michiel 1. Mondi Lodge is gated, with parking included, so you can leave the car right by the garden. Check-in is from 2pm and check-out is by 11am. If you’re arriving early or late, message us and we’ll see what we can do.

Getting around from here

  • Boka Sami and its beach, restaurants and snorkelling are just down the road.
  • Willemstad and the colourful Handelskade are about ten minutes away.
  • Christoffel and Shete Boka National Parks are further west, on the road to Westpunt, and make a great day trip together.
  • Kokomo Beach on Vaersenbaai is close by, or reachable on foot by a coastal trail of about 2 km from Boka Sami.

Money and practical bits

US dollars are widely accepted across the island, alongside the local currency, and cards are accepted in most places. Our rates include tax, cleaning, wifi, electricity and water, so there’s nothing extra to pay at the lodge apart from the minibar.
